The host of AFCON , Equatorial Guinea is through to the semi- finals for the first time in history after defeating Tunisia 2-1 in a game filled with drama and high temper.
Tunisia was leading 0-1 with a goal from their striker Ahmed Akaichi until few seconds to stoppage time when referee Rajindraparsad Seechurn awarded a penalty to the host and midfielder Javier Balbao converted the spot kick for the host nation to make it 1-1. The Tunisians were not happy with the referee for awarding this penalty. The game went into extra time and Equatoria Guinea sealed it with a curling free kick from their midfielder Balbao. It ended 2-1 in favour of the host.
It was more of a high – tempered game than a high – tempo game. And there was a big drama at the end of the match when Tunisian players attacked the referee Rajindraparsad Seechurn. They were not happy that he awarded the penalty. However he was saved by the riot police men.
