INEC office in the Dekina local government area of Kogi State was razed down by fire a few hours ago. This is happening just barely twenty-four hours to the set date of the controversial supplementary governorship Election in Kogi State.
The unfortunate incidence was reported to have been carried out by some thugs in Dekina local government area.
It was gathered that some people went to the premises as early as 2 am, demanding for sensitive materials.
Apparently, their inability to have access to those materials made them to raze down the building.
According to an eye witness: “The thugs came in a bus, shot sporadically and razed down the office.”
Out of the 91 polling units, where the election was supposed to take place, 29 units are in Dekina.
Meanwhile, INEC authorities in the state have clarified that it was only non-sensitive materials that were affected in the arson, assuring that the election will go ahead as scheduled.
