Nigerian growing film industry, Nollywood, the equivalent of United States’ Hollywood, has achieved another plus in its growing process. For the first time in history, a Nigerian film has premiered at the BFI IMAX Waterloo, London– the largest screen cinema in Britain. This is a great achievement for the movie industry. The movie that priemiered in this cinema is “Thy will be done “. It was directed by Obi Emelonye the director of the movies Mirror Boy and Last Flight To Abuja. It has prominent actors like Ramsey Noah, Mercy Johnson Okojie and Mary Njoku featuring in the movie.
This is the first time an independent film is premiering at this venue with the largest screen in the UK. It is a VIP event that redefined Nollywood in the eyes of the mainstream. Believed to be in attendance were the stars of the film- Ramsey Noah, Mercy Johnson Okojie and Mary Njoku. There were also representatives from Film London, BFI, Nigeria High Commission and the BBC; as well as leaders of thought in the community, premiership footballers and music stars.
Event started with a red carpet extravaganza from 5.30 pm. The film was screened from 7.00 pm; followed immediately by a Q&A with the director, producers and stars.
