Vincent Enyeama Sent Off
The Nigerian star was given his marching orders in the 69th minute before Paul-Georges Ntep rescued his side from a home defeat in the French topflight
Lille’s Vincent Enyeama was issued with a straight red card as his side played a 1-1 draw at Rennes in the French Ligue 1 on Friday night.
Giovanni Sio was played through on goal and was on his way round goalkeeper Enyeama before referee Stephane Jochem adjudged he had been felled by the Nigeria international, who was subsequently sent off.
The visitors were furious at the decision and protested for over two minutes, but their mood improved when Paul-Georges Ntep’s penalty was well saved by the legs of sub keeper Mike Maignan.
It was Enyeama’s first dismissal in the Ligue 1, and could now leave him with a one-game ban that would see him miss his side’s trip to Reims.
Lille went on to take the lead on 49 minutes when Junior Tallo’s cut-back was cleverly taken by Sofiane Boufal, whose left-foot finish caught out Abdoulaye Diallo in the Rennes goal, before Paul-Georges Ntep rescued the home team.
Les Dogues are tenth on the French league topflight log with seven points from six games.
