Watch these young white people sing in Igbo (African) language – Video

westerners singing igbo song

Igbo language is a language spoken by an ethnic group in eastern part of Nigeria, in west Africa. The video you are about to watch was sang by a group of young people known as Via Vitae.

Via Vitae is an a-capella choir with young singers between the ages of 18 and 28. The members of this choir come from all over Norway, from Vest-Agder in the south and all the way up to Troms in the north. Five times a year they gather in different places in Norway to share music with each other and their audience.

The song in the video below they sang is titled “Amuworo anyi otu nwa”. It is an Igbo christmas song which talks about the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ translated as ‘A son has been born.”

From the concert in Karleby Church 20. july 2011.
Conductor: Lars Kristian Håkestad
