The Gunners boss hasn’t taken long to find something to annoy him, using his first pre-match press conference of the new season to express his dismay at the fixture schedule.
Arsene Wenger is not a happy bunny already. It’s not awkward coat zips or even Jose Mourinho that has irked the Arsenal boss this time, though…
In his first pre-match press conference of the new season, the Frenchman took aim at the Premier League fixture schedulers and bemoaned the fact the English season is starting a week earlier, without any consultation.
He said: “I’m massively against the early start. We have no Christmas break yet we start one week earlier. We were not consulted at all, Fifa rules say you you need four weeks’ holiday.
“If we start any earlier we’d be with the youth team. These decisions in meetings where we are not involved. Any doctor tells you bones take 6 weeks to heal completely.”
Arsenal kick off the season against London rivals West Ham United on Sunday.
