Nigeria Must Support Keshi – Njitap
Geremi Njitap, the winner of the AFCON title in 2000 and 2002 as a member of the Indomitable Lions and Olympic champion of Sydney 2000 games, told that Nigerians must show their total support to Stephen Keshi, who was recently re-appointed as the Super Eagles coach.
Geremi Njitap, Cameroon player , who holds titles of the AFCON 2000 and 2002 winner and the Olympic champion, claimed that Nigerians must give their total support to Stephen Keshi, who was re-appointed recently as the Super Eagles coach.
“I’m happy for him because they gave him another contract, it means that they trust him. But they have to support him. It’s not only him that has to make the difference,” Geremi told press at the Champion The Match session in Lagos.
After Super Eagles failed to show results at the last world cup in Brazil, Keshi spent his last ten months without a job, but recently he was given his second chance to bring senior national team to new records.
Since 2002, when Cameroon won their fourth Africa champion title, they have dropped to the bottom of the football charts. Now Cameroon takes 48thplace in the world ranks and is ranked 11 spots worse than Cape Verde islands.
“Our government and the people who manage our football are asleep. They thought we would always have talents,” – told the former Real Madrid and Chelsea player. In his opinion “Nigeria are like Cameroon, they think that they will always have talents but it’s not every time. They have to work hard and put in some money and encourage young kids to play football”.
“Now the young boys don’t play football, they are in front of the TV playing video games”, expressed his regrets Geremi Njitap.
Geremi Sorele Njitap better known as Geremi, is also a two-time Champions League winner as a member of Real Madrid FC team.
