Is Anambra state lucky to have Willie Obiano ? What do you think about this question ? I think with the news on his Facebook page he seems to be doing the right thing. There are many other great things he has done, however, I am here to reveal to you something new he did not long ago.
On his Facebook wall he claims to have empowered the youths of Anambra and strengthened the Anambra road maintenance agency by providing job for 400 youths and buying some road maintenance machine and vehicles for the Anambra state Road Maintenance Agency. These are his words:
“We have empowered youths and strengthened the Anambra Road Maintenance Agency by employing 400 youths and providing machines and vehicles to do massive road maintenance throughout the state and ensure realization of operation zero-pot holes. The youths have undergone lifelong skill training on road maintenance. All vehicles were bought from our own Innoson. Made in Anambra.”
He also talked about launching the Anambra state daily road sweepers which in his words provided job for about 300 Anambrarians.
“We Launched the Anambra State Daily Road Sweepers, which has engaged over 300 unemployed Ndi Anambra at first instance. All the receptacles, buses and many other equipment provided are made by our own Innoson Manufacturing Company, Nnewi.
Anambra has it all!”
Another thing he did was to commission and re-equip Orumba General Hospital.
“My people, we commissioned the Re-engineered Orumba General Hospital just 6 months after signing Anambra Business Coalition Initiative with Rise Health Corporation, USA. This hospital has been reconstructed, equipped and managed by well trained and highly skilled medical personnel. We will keep replicating this until we have the best hospitals in Nigeria.”
For me one outstanding thing I like in all he did was buying some of the things from Innoson’s company. It is something I believe every governor in Nigeria should be doing. If we buy things that are produced in Nigeria, and not spend the money to enrich companies outside Nigeria, we will be helping our indigenous companies to group and be strengthened so as to compete with other global companies. The effects on job creation can not be quantified.
Kudos to Governor Willie Obiano for the good job. Hope you keep the focus and continue working hard for the people of Anambra and not get derailed on the way.
