David Mark

David Mark, former senate president, has been declared winner of the Benue south senatorial rerun election.

David Mark won with a margin of 12,571, polling 84, 192 votes as Daniel Onjeh of the APC who polled 71, 621 votes. Mark won in five local government areas while Onjeh won in four.

The result was declared by Prof.Ishaku Enigi. The rerun was conducted after the Appeal Court annulled the March 28, 2015 election of which Mr. Mark was declared winner by the Independent National Electoral Commission. PDP had has raised alarm over the plot by the All Progressives Congress (APC) to manipulate the results of the Benue South senatorial rerun.

State chairman of the PDP Dr Emmanuel Agbo has said the APC planned to hijack the results from the polling units in Ogbadibo local government area and have refused to hand over to the collation officers. The party claimed the APC candidate Daniel Onjeh is the one leading the charade.

The PDP said: “As a party we call on all security operatives to arrest the situation forthwith so that the will of the people will not be thwarted. The APC in connivance with some security operatives have refused to allow the PDP agents access to the result sheets,”
