Enyimba Qualify For First Round Of CAF Championship


Enyimba ’s first win in three matches this season, has recorded them a spot for the first round of the CAF Championship League.

The people’s elephant welcome Uganda’s Vipers SC in the second leg of the 2016 CAF Champions League preliminary round. Enyimba lost the first leg 1 – 0 in Uganda and are yet to win a match in the league this season. Enyimba players before the first leg of their CAF Champions League match against Vipers Coach Paul Aigbogun was appointed early this year to replace the title winning Kadiri Ikhana and results have not been going his way since he took charge.

The Aba based club lost the pre-season Super Four tournament and suffered an opening day 1 – 0 defeat to newly formed Rivers Utd. The match will be played at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in Port-Harcourt. Kick-off is 4pm. In the other CAF Champions League game involving Nigerian teams, Warri Wolves have qualified for the 1st round of the Champions League after the withdrawal of Sporting Praia Cruz. The Delta boys won the first leg 2 – 0.

In the CAF Confederation Cup, Akwa United did the nation proud by winning the first leg of its CAF Confederation Cup preliminary tie 1 – 0 away at Club Mokanda. They welcomed the team to the Akwa Ibom stadium today. Nasarawa United are through to the first round of the CAF Confederations Cup after a 2 – 1 aggregate win over Generation Foot.
