Amaechi’s Kinsmen dump APC, declare Support for Wike and PDP

Over 100 members of the All Progressives Congress (APC), in Ubima community in Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State, yesterday defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) following allegation that their son and brother, the Minister of Transportation, Hon Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi, is not representing them well.

Ameachi’s kinsmen accused him of being nonchalant to the plight of his people, especially when they had security challenges.

One of the kinsmen expressed worry that the community, despite producing a two time Governor, Speaker and now a Minister had no meaningful project to show for it.

According to one of the decampees who gave his name as Anthony Dike, “We are swamping to PDP today because our brother, Rotimi Amaechi, has not done anything in Ubima where he comes from. The youths are not empowered. You can see that the community lacks development and as Governor and now Minister, Amaechi did not attract development to Ubima”.

However, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state, has called for the sack of the Amaechi, for showing disrespect to the office of the Acting President, Prof Yemi Osinbajo, during the recent visit of the Acting President to Port Harcourt to commission projects.

The Publicity Secretary of the party, Samuel Nwanosike, made the call during the official reception of hundreds of APC decampees in Amaechi’s community of Ubima. He alleged that the former state governor broke protocol twice, thereby demonstrating disloyalty to the Ag. President.

He expressed worry over the conduct of the Minister at the Port Harcourt International Airport, Omagwa and when the Prof Osinbajo wanted to go for project commissioning, insisting that the behaviour was condemnable.

“A few days ago, we were at the Port Harcourt International Airport to receive the Acting President, Prof Yemi Osinbajo. It will surprise you to know that somebody, who is a serving Minister, would have the gut to disrespect the Acting President of Nigeria, by breaking the protocol, abandon traditional rulers and government functionaries lined up for protocol and salute before the Acting President and ran into a Chopper that was waiting for the Acting President.”
