Thomas Lemar has been linked with a move away from Monaco this summer following his fine performances for the Ligue 1 champions.
The France international was pivotal in them winning the league title, making 34 appearances, and is said to be on Arsenal’s radar.
The Daily Star claim Lemar has set his sights on a move to the Emirates and cannot wait to work under Arsene Wenger.
However, the 21-year-old is reportedly set for a bust-up with Monaco as they look to block his move to the Premier League.
The Ligue 1 side have seen their squad ripped apart this summer, losing a number of key players to Europe’s bigger clubs.
Benjamin Mendy is also tipped to be on his way to the Etihad this summer and question marks are still surrounding star striker Kylian Mbappe.
As a result, Monaco have reportedly put their foot down and are willing to refuse Lemar’s move to Arsenal, much to the player’s disappointment.
“It is an advantage to get them in early because you go into the new season and you have an idea of what the players are about,” Wenger said.
“Overall I think it is a huge advantage.
“Unfortunately we are not the only ones to decide the pace of the transfer market.”
