Troops of Operation Lafiya Dole deployed in Pulka on Thursday, January 4, rescued one of the Chibok girls abducted by Boko Haram terrorists earlier in 2014.
The Nigerian army disclosed this in a statement issued by Onyema Nwachukwu, the deputy director public relations, Theatre Command Operation Lafiya Dole.
So far, preliminary investigations reveal that the young girl identified as Salomi Pagu is the same as the Chibok girl published on serial 86 of the online list of abducted Chibok girls.
Currently the girl who was intercepted in the company of another young girl, Jamila Adams, about 14 years old with a child, are in the safe custody of troops and receiving medical attention.
In a previous report, President Muhammadu Buhari said the thought of the remaining 113 Chibok girls still occupies his mind, Daily Trust reports.
President Buhari made the declaration on Saturday, December 30, in a message to residents of Chibok.
He noted that the scenario surrounding the abduction of the girls was regrettable; stressing that he was not comfortable with unfolding events.
Represented by Senator Mohammed Ndume, representing Borno south, Buhari explained that the federal government had unveiled new strategies to ensure the release of the remaining kidnapped girls.
