A manager of a team in the Romanian second division sparked huge controversy after he tripped over an opposition player while the ball was still in play.
Top-of-the-league Chindia Targoviste were playing Emil Sandoi’s FC Arges as the leaders broke quickly towards the end of the game.
With Sandoi’s side looking to be threatened by the rapid transition, the manager took matters into his own hands by cheekily halting play by dangling out a leg.
Sandoi was quickly sent to the stands for his troubles after the linesman notified the referee of the incident. Sandoi apologised to the player whom he tripped while he tried to plead his innocence.
In real-time, the stoppage looked as if it may have been an accidental coming together, but replays revealed that Sandoi knew exactly what he was doing.
His efforts were not in vain, however, as Arges held on for a 1-1 draw, leaving them fifth in the table.
