– Manchester City and Pep Guardiola are long-term admirers of Algeria’s Riyad Mahrez
– The Leicester winger is closing in on a £60m move to Premier League champions
– Negotiations have been completed and Mahrez is set for a medical in the next 2 days
Premier League champions Manchester City have sealed a £60m deal with Leicester for Algeria’s Riyad Mahrez, with the Foxes ace set to undergo a medical analysis with the next two days, reports suggest.
According to a UK Daily Mail report, Manchester City have failed in two previous attempt to land the Algeria international, it now seems the former Premier League winner will be leaving the King Power Stadium for the Etihad this summer.
The Algerian has not commenced pre-season training with the Foxes after being handed an extra vacation, and might not team up with his former team-mates at Leicester City again.
Negotiations have been sealed with both Premier League outfits, and Mahrez big switch is due to be final sealed in the coming days after the conclusion of his routine medical.
Citizens’ manager Pep Guardiola is an admirer of the Algerian, and was satisfied with his dedication to the Foxes during the second stanza of last campaign despite his failure to seal the move during the winter transfer season in the January.
The Premier League champions were on the verge of sealing Mahrez’s deal in the winter, but the Foxes insisted on recouping about £100m for their prized asset.
The deal looked to have fallen through after Mahrez went on AWOL and missed out of Leicester training for a week and 3 days, but he later returned to continue playing for the Foxes.
Interestingly, the Algerian was back in Leicester’s good books as he netted four more goals for the Foxes, taking his total goals to 39 goals from 139 top flight games for the King Power dwellers.
Mahrez will be looking forward to get another shot at the Premier League title with the Citizens in the coming campaign after the Guardiola-tutored side became the first English side to smash a 100-point mark in the Premier League.
