Epl: Jose Mourinho believes no Manchester United fan could fault the effort of his players in either the draw with Arsenal or convincing 4-1 triumph over Fulham.
The Old Trafford faithful have been rewarded for their support with a couple of stirring displays and the boss is pleased his players are showing the appetite and desire to push the team up the Premier League table.
The first-half showing, in particular, was a tremendous illustration of attacking intent which yielded three goals in front of the Stretford End.
The team was clearly there to win and clearly there to give everything, Jose said at his post-match press conference.
When you give everything, you know nobody can point the finger at you. Even if the opposition is better than you and beats you, that’s football. That’s the nature of competition.
”What I really want is not one single United fan can point the finger at us by saying we don’t give everything – also against Arsenal. A result we don’t want but the kind of performance, independent of the result, that people respect the effort.” The manager praised most his players for their performance and had a word on Romelu Lukaku’s form, after the Belgian scored the third goal from a Juan Mata cross.
I think Romelu’s performance improved a lot, in relation to previous matches,” added jose.
Not because of the goal but the way he was pressing and fighting for the team. We were a compact unit that gave no chance to Fulham in the first half.
