Tekno Profile and History
To write a biography of Tekno is something we are happy to do. Who would not like to know something about this genius in the Nigerian and African music space. Also the history of Tekno is one that at any time is very inspiring since reading his life history makes you understand that when it is your success time, it is your time. You may be very talented but unnoticed, do not be disheartened neither should you give up. Keep working hard, at the right time, at the right place, your shine will come.
We cannot write about Tekno’s profile without mentioning that he is a Nigerian singer-songwriter, producer, performer and dancer. He is one of Nigeria’s and Africa’s best. Some people say that any song he produces is a hit song and this is not far from the truth. He has produced a lot of hit songs for himself and for others. It is believed that he was the man who produced the sound for Davido’s hit song “IF”. As a result he has been nominated several times for different awards and has also won some awards.

Family and Early Life
Tekno is from Abakaliki, Ebonyi state, in the south-eastern part of Nigeria. Though he is from this state, he was born in Bauchi Nigeria. As is obtainable in Nigeria, people belong to the ethnic group or tribe of their parents and grandparents and not necessarily where they were born. In other words, indigeneship (ancestral tribal home) is what determines which state one belong to and not residency or birth. Tekno’s parent ancestral home is Abakaliki in Ebonyi state, Nigeria. Nevertheless, his primary and secondary education were done in the Northern part of Nigeria.
His family is made up of 4 boys and 1 girl. As is the custom in the Nigerian military, any member of the army could be transferred to any part of the country as may be required by their leader. Consequently, since Tekno’s father was in the Nigerian army, his family lived in different part of the country – Bauchi, Nassarawa, Kaduna and Abuja.
The name Tekno Miles or Tekno is his stage name. As a matter of fact, his real name is Augustine Miles Kelechi. He was born on 17 December, 1992.
With regards to his education, Tekno is not ashamed to let people know that he did not finish school. Maybe he meant he did not finish his university. Because according to him, when in school he was more distracted by playing music and entertaining people. Nevertheless he claims to be intelligent.
He is not yet formally married, however, he lives with his girl friend Lola Rae, who is also sort of a popular musician. She gave birth to their first child this year (2018) which Tekno hinted about on his Instagram page.
Tekno’s interest for music began at a tender age. He was born in a family that loves music. His dad plays the guitar. Consequently, like a typical Nigerian dad who would like to introduce the son to his hubbies, Tekno’s dad employed a music teacher who taught him the guitar and the piano as well. According to Tekno in an interview on NTV Kenya, whenever as a little boy he played a new song, his dad would buy him a gift. Moreover, Tekno revealed during the interview on NTV Kenya that he was between the age of 5 to 7 when his dad employed the music teacher to help him with his musical skills. At a younger age, he also used to sing and dance in school and in church.
This musically talented young man lived his life unnoticed until in 2012 he was discovered by Julius Agwu, a Nigerian popular comedian. He was discovered in Abuja at an event where he performed his remix of Ice Prince’s song, “Oleku” which he titled, “Onye Ne Kwu.” His performance was so good on this day that he was given a standing ovation. And as Tekno told an interviewer on Hip Tv, Julius Agwu was one of the performers at the event. Since he was impressed with his performance, Julius called him up on stage and prayed for him.
Two other persons that witnessed him performed that day were Iyanya and Ubi Franklyn, the manager of Made Men Music (Triple MG) that later signed him into their music label. It was due to the advice of Iyanya and Ubi that he later relocated to Lagos, in the western part of Nigeria where there were more opportunities and platform for his musical career. In actual fact, he was signed to Made Men Music Group on 5 October 2013. Putting pen to paper with his music label, kick-started his rise to stardom.
However, to clarify an issue, Tekno Miles was first signed under K-Money Entertainment before he moved over to Triple MG. His song titled “Holiday” was released under the imprint. This song “Holiday” made him locally and internationally popular Tekno claims on Hip Tv interview titled, “Next Rated Interview – Tekno”. When he was with this group, they gave him a car, a house and a new life. He was richer and lived a better life than he was before he joined the group. They helped him shoot a movie that cost over 3 million Naira.
When he was asked what normally inspires his songs on an interview on Hip Tv, he said that his inspiration comes on hearing a good beat. This is his main inspiration. However, he is also inspired listening to songs of other artiste and watching a video.
Tekno has never released an album. Nevertheless, he has released a lot of singles and has featured in many others. Majority of his songs are chartbuster. This is to say that he produces hit songs back-to-back most of the time. Tekno songs are listed below:
