Top German Coach Becomes The first Manager To Be Sacked In English League This Season

Jan Siewert: Huddersfield sack German manager over poor results

– Jan Siewert has parted ways with Championship side Huddersfield

– The club confirmed the sack on their official website after losing to Fulham at home

– Siewart joined the Terriers in January from Dortmund but only managed one win since then

Championship side Huddersfield have fired their manager Jan Siewert following his side’s 2-1 defeat to Fulham at the John Smith’s Stadium.

Aleksandar Mitrovic opened scoring for the Craven Cottage outfit in the 51st minute having played a goalless first half.

And just six minutes Karlan Grant restored parity for the Terriers to hand them a lifeline in the encounter.

Fulham found the winning goal through Ivan Cavaleiro with just about ten minutes to wrap up the game as Huddersfield remain win-less in all their matches so far this season.

Super Eagles star Iwobi finally opens up on why he left Arsenal for Everton

They got their campaign off to a shaky start with a 1-1 draw against Queens Park Rangers – before losing two straight matches to Lincoln City and Huddersfield.

Siewert replaced David Wagner in January 2019 but was unable to help them escape relegation from the Premier league at the end of the season.

Meanwhile, his only win in charge of the club was his side’s 1-0 victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers in late February with Steve Mounie scoring the lone goal of the game.

And with just one point out of a possible nine in the 2019-20 season, the club’s management had no choice but to terminate his contract in a bid to avoid yet another relegation at the end.

A statement released by the club on their official website reads: “Huddersfield Town has this evening terminated the contract of Head Coach Jan Siewert with immediate effect.

“Siewert joined the Club from Borussia Dortmund in January 2019 in the Club’s ultimately unsuccessful fight against relegation from the Premier League and led the team in the first four competitive games of the new season, with his final game in charge being the Championship defeat to Fulham on Friday evening.”

The Terriers are currently 20th on the table with 24 teams after drawing just one out of their first three games this season.

It is however unsure who they will hire to turn around their season as they hope to return to the Premier League in the nearest future.
